Vegemite and Cheese Pasta Sauce

This is a huge hit with the whole family, especially with the boys who have been a little fussy lately!! A decade ago, I would make a quick dinner with pasta, and stirring butter, Vegemite and some grated Parmesan cheese through (YUM!)! This version is super easy, and is a thick and creamy pasta sauce with a huge explosion of flavour!!

Add all ingredients to bowl.

Cook 11 minutes/90 degrees/Speed 4.

Vegemite and Cheese Pasta Sauce

Ingredients

  • 500 grams milk
  • 100 grams tasty cheese
  • 100 grams parmesan cheese
  • 50 grams butter
  • 50 grams cornflour
  • 50 grams Vegemite

Instructions

Add all ingredients to bowl.

Cook 11 minutes/90 degrees/Speed 4.

Stir through cooked pasta and serve.

Notes

*This amount of sauce is perfect to serve with 1 x 500 gram packet of pasta (cooked as per packet).

Vegemite and Cheese Muffins

I love vegemite, I love cheese. Despite making all these sweet goodies, I’m actually a savoury gal at heart, so these…I can eat by the truckloads!

You can spoon these into muffin cases, or directly into a greased muffin tray. Muffin cases are easier, but I find that the cheese sticks to the muffin case so prefer to put these directly into a greased muffin tray.

Add Parmesan cheese to bowl.

Blitz 10 seconds/Speed 10

 Set aside 2 x tablespoons of cheese

Add flour, milk, butter, Vegemite and egg into the bowl.

Mix 15 seconds/Speed 5.

Spoon into a greased muffin tray…

 … and sprinkle with set aside cheese.

Bake for 13 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.

Vegemite and Cheese Muffins

Ingredients

  • 120 grams Parmesan cheese (cubed)
  • 300 grams self raising flour
  • 250 grams milk
  • 75 grams butter
  • 40 grams Vegemite
  • 1 egg

METHOD (Thermomix):

Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

Add Parmesan cheese to bowl. Blitz 10 seconds/Speed 10. Set aside 2 x tablespoons of cheese.

Add flour, milk, butter, Vegemite and egg into the bowl. Mix 15 seconds/Speed 5.

Spoon into a greased muffin tray, and sprinkle with set aside cheese.

Bake for 13 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.

METHOD (Non Thermomix):

Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

Grate cheese (or use pre grated) and set aside 2 x tablespoons cheese.

Melt Vegemite and butter in microwave in a large bowl - 20 to 30 seconds on high. Mix together until combined.

Add cheese, flour, milk and egg into bowl and mix together until well combined.

Spoon into a greased muffin tray, and sprinkle with set aside cheese.

Bake for 13 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
